The Athletic Garage puts on three main shows every year. These include our "World of Dance Showcase" now going into it's 9th year, "Calle Caliente: A provocative Dance Theatre" for audiences 18 and over, and "MistleToes" our holiday dance show!
One of the highlights of the Athletic Garage is the constant opportunity for all dancers and students to showcase their talent.
Anyone dancing, from the beginner to the advanced, at the Garage is invited to participate, simply take class! Our shows also always include appearances by our sponsored dance companies including: Xpose Dance Theater Company, Raiz Brazil, Angeleno Funk, Axxent Music Group, and more.
About Our Shows:
"The World of Dance Showcase" is our spring show, presented every march. This Show is unique to "The Garage" not only because it is presented outside on a stage that transforms our parking lot into a small venue that fits over 300, but because it is a fund raiser show for the Scholarship program. The World of Dance show has a unique and exciting theme every year, which is expressed in many original perspectives by our professional and well regarded choreographers. In this show, everyone dances, from the kids to the adults in endless styles: Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Jazz Funk, House, Salsa, Samba, Afro Latin, Broadway, Belly Dance, vocal performances and much more. This years theme is...."Circus of Dance".
During the steamy summers at "The Garage", "Calle Caliente" takes a form of its own inside our studio, transformed into a small theater space. In Calle Caliente, the Athletic Garage unleashes it's steamy side, where beautiful, exciting, and sensual dance is expressed by scintillating bodies in motion! This also includes an interactive theatrical performance art pre-show.
Winters bring the holiday spirit to "The AG" family and "Mistletoes" is staged inside our studio, again transformed at this time of year into a small theater space....with a Christmas tree! This show celebrates all holidays, and all styles of dance are used to interpret the holiday spirit. A big highlight in the Mistletoes show are the Kids Hip Hop students, as well as beautiful vocal performances.
